Urban beekeeping is a new environmental project of VDS Company

Following the UN Sustainable Development Goals and contributing to the conservation of biological diversity, VDS is starting to develop a new environmental project — urban beekeeping.
In early June, the first three beehives with bee colonies were installed on the territory of the VDS Plant. Today, together with Sergey Alexandrovich Solovyov, a beekeeper at the Frangula Fraternity, we have installed three more beehives on the roof of the VDS administrative building.
Urban beekeeping has long been developed in Europe and America. The roofs of the world's capitals — Paris, London, Vienna, Stockholm — are inhabited by thousands of honey insects. Beehives are installed in offices, theaters, and hotels.
This project is another step towards building a sustainable future. The world has long been talking about a potential environmental disaster — depopulation of bees due to diseases and overtreatment of fields with pesticides. According to Greenpeace, their population has been steadily declining since the 1990s. At the same time, the death of bees threatens the entire ecosystem. The result will be the death of other insects and a direct threat to plants, because according to research, bees pollinate about 80% of plants and 70% of crops that are used for cooking.
