VDS Integrated Waste Management program
VDS has done a lot of work on the way to creating its own recycling department and a program for resource conservation and waste management. In 2022, we disposed Shell, BP and Neste branded equipment in an environmentally friendly manner.
We share the ESG goals of our Clients in the field of sustainable development and contribute daily to building a better future for the next generations.
Waste reduction and efficient use of resources are the key to the successful achievement of the 12 UN Sustainable Development Goals, which focus on responsible production and consumption.
The desire to be inside a closed-loop economy prompted us to develop our own program for resource conservation, waste management and recycling of branded VDS equipment. The developed program is based on 3 principles:
— Together for the environment. We share the goals of our Customers in the field of sustainable development.
— Zero waste. We strive for waste-free production.
— Recycling. For us, waste is not garbage, but a resource.
For the first time, we applied this Program as part of the Shell gas station network rebranding project, where VDS specialists dismantled branded products from 243 stations in 36 days. The entire volume of products was carefully delivered to the VDS sorting center in Smolensk, where our specialists disassembled the equipment and sorted the materials by waste type.
In total, 12 types of waste were formed during the sorting, the classification of which was carried out within the framework of the interstate Standard "Resource Conservation. Waste management" (State Standart 30772-2001).
As a result of the division into classes, we received two groups of waste:
— 8 types of secondary resources potentially suitable for recycling.
— 4 types of irrevocable waste that are not recyclable and are subject to disposal.
The work on recycling of secondary resources and waste disposal was carried out for us by partner specialized licensed enterprises of the Russian Federation.
As a result of the resource saving program, 96% of the waste from the total mass of 203.9 tons generated as part of the rebranding of gas station networks in 2022 found a new life, and did not become another mountain of non-decomposable waste in a landfill.
Together for the environment!
