Designing the central entrance arch
From the image search and the first sketches to the final delivery of the turnkey project – VDS team in collaboration with chief architect of the region and akim of Almaty region built an entrance group of arches. It became the main entrance to “Arai” Park (after reconstruction it was renamed to “Zhetysu” Park). The central entrance group of 7 arches symbolizes the Semirechye and the Alatau chain of Mountains located in this region. (“Semirechye” Kaz. “Zhetysu” is a geographical area of Kazakhstan, Almaty region. The name came from seven rivers running in this area).

Концепция черпает вдохновение в культурных корнях, традиционных взаимосвязях казахского народа. В ее основу лег принцип лиры, лука, стремящегося вверх в постоянном напряжении и создающего ощущение на секунду застывшего мгновения. Сами арки и являются «линиями силы». Пластика упругого, устойчивость гибкого, прочность легкого создает равновесие окружающего пространства. Сотоподобные тимпаны, своды и «сталактиты» мусульманской архитектуры множит подобие форм, убирает прямые углы, образуя архетип всего стиля.
Main creative task
One of the main creative tasks that VDS Design and Construction Center specialists performed was to reflect the beauty of the natural landscape of Semirechye at that following the overall style and concept of the whole “Zhetysu” Park. At the stage of the architectural idea agreement, the project team created and presented a 3D model of a group of arches, using virtual reality as a site for design.
Each of the seven arches
Each of the seven arches has its own height: the top of the most majestic central one reaches 16 m. The total weight of “Zhetysu” arches is 50 tons. VDS team completed design engineering, production and installation of the entrance group of “Zhetysu” arches within 50 days. All intellectual property rights to the object, including design solutions, are registered and belong to VDS Group.
Arches, like mountains along which rivers flow
Arches, like mountains along which rivers flow, shimmer in the evening, illuminating the park with its crystal azure glow. VDS specialists achieved the same spectacular appearance of the “mountains chains” in the daytime and at night due to the original colouring and dynamic full-colour backlight.
