Transitional Gallery of the Young Spectator Theater in Perm
In 2023, VDS developed an architectural and design concept and implemented the Transitional Gallery project for the Young Spectator Theater in Perm.
The gallery combined into a single architectural ensemble the large stage of the Theater with a new small stage, under which the "House of the County Zemstvo" built in 1860, which is a monument of urban planning and architecture of regional significance, was transferred.
The concept of the project
The courtyard of the Young Spectator Theater is a pleasant urban open—air space, a kind of magnet that attracts active people.
In summer, benches and swings appear here, exhibitions, themed fairs are held, and musicians perform. In winter, the situation in the courtyard changes: a Christmas tree appears, a market with New Year's toys and gifts opens.
Implementation
The transition gallery consists of 7 individual arches with a height of 16 meters and a total weight of more than 100 tons. Installation work was carried out in difficult cramped conditions in close proximity to the historical buildings and buildings of the Youth Theater.
The project provided growth opportunities for the theater and became a real decoration of the historical and cultural center of Perm. A place of attraction not only for theater visitors, but also for residents and visitors of the city, they come here just to spend time, in winter to keep warm, and in summer to hide in the shade.
